Coastal Data Systems is seeking a motivated Software Engineer Intern to join our dynamic team in Long Beach, Georgia. As a key member of our engineering squad, you will work directly with senior developers to build scalable software solutions that drive our business forward. Our hybrid work model allows you to collaborate with your team in person while enjoying the flexibility of remote work.
Responsibilities
- Design & Development: Assist in the design, coding, and testing of new software applications and features using modern programming languages and frameworks.
- Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code; participate in code reviews to ensure best practices and standards.
- Debugging & Troubleshooting: Identify and fix bugs and performance issues in existing software systems to ensure optimal functionality.
- Database Management: Work with SQL and NoSQL databases to query data, create reports, and optimize database structures for performance.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (including product managers and designers) to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Documentation: Maintain technical documentation and contribute to internal knowledge bases to support team onboarding and process improvement.
- Agile Processes: Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives to contribute to a transparent and efficient development lifecycle.
Qualifications
- Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; graduating between Summer 2024 and Fall 2024.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java, C#, JavaScript). Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and SQL is required.
- Development Tools: Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and integrated development environments (IDEs) like Visual Studio or IntelliJ.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and creatively.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Soft Skills: Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to learn new technologies in a fast-paced environment.
- Availability: Ability to work a minimum of 30-35 hours per week, with flexibility for occasional evening or weekend work as needed.
